CHESTERFIELD, MO (KTVI) - Stan Kroenke may claim St. Louis is a bad place to do business, but as we reported last week, Top Golf is just the latest of several big name chains being added to the St. Louis area`s marquee.
Retail companies moving to the St. Louis area as of late include: IKEA, Shake Shack, and now Top Golf out of Dallas Texas.
Chesterfield is the latest city in the region to experience a stroke of luck bringing Top Golf to town. And then there`s the recently announced Shake Shack founded in New York by a St. Louisan finally coming to St. Louis.
The head of the St. Louis Regional Chamber says attracting new national chains to St. Louis has a lot to do with the kinds of jobs the area has been growing.
Developer Jim Sansone, a principal with Sansone group says while flashy names are good for the area`s image; a better gauge of the local retail climate is what being done by businesses already here.
Even some big names chains already here are expanding, like Whole Foods which is opening next week across from Shake Shack.
