Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Zach Davies befuddled the Cardinals through eight shutout innings, leading his team to a 3-1 win over the Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon. Davies struck out nine Redbirds while allowing just three hits. Ryan Braun had two hits and one RBI to lead the Milwaukee offense. The Brewers scored two first inning runs off Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia. That would be all they’d need with Davies dominant performance. Garcia pitched five innings, allowing the two runs and absorbed the loss (4-5). Brandon Moss hit a pinch home run in the ninth inning to avert a shutout. It’s Moss’ 10th homer of the season. For the team, it’s their 10th pinch hit home run of the season, matching their season high from 1998.
