A 9-year-old girl in New Mexico raised more than $500 selling lemonade, but the money isn’t going toward toys or games - she’s trying to help pay for her little brother’s heart surgery.

According to KWES-TV in Odessa, Texas, Addison Witulski overheard hear grandmother, Kim Allred, talking about how the family didn’t have enough money to get her little brother, Kaden, to treatment in Houston, Texas, in July. That’s when 9-year-old Addison decided to take matters into her own hands; this past Sunday, she and her friends set up a lemonade stand, selling lemonade and pictures for .25 cents each.

Allred said the moment she found out her granddaughter had organized the fundraiser on her own was unexplainable, saying she was “so proud of these nine-year-old little kids.” By the end of the day, Addison had raised $568.10 to go toward Kaden’s treatment. The family posted to social media to thank everyone who stopped by to help the 9-year-old girl raise money for her little brother.

The family has also set up a GoFundMe page to help Kaden get to surgery.
