O’FALLON, IL (KTVI) – Investigators with the O’Fallon Police Department are asking for the public’s help in locating a “person of interest” tied to an armed robbery at a local gold exchange shop.

According to Lt. Kerry Andrews, a police spokesman, the robbery occurred June 14 around 1:30 p.m. at the Dollars 4 Gold store along US Hwy 50. Two men robbed the store and fled.

Authorities tracked down one of the suspects, identified as 29-year-old Trent Yates of East St. Louis. St. Clair County prosecutors charged Yates with two counts of armed robbery and one count of attempted armed robbery.

Andrews said investigators on Friday named a person of interest: 21-year-old Wadell Savage Jr. of East St. Louis.

Savage already has an outstanding warrant against him for a parole violation.

Police described Savage as an African-American man, standing 5’11” tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Savage should be considered armed and dangerous, Andrews said.

Anyone with knowledge on Savage’s whereabouts is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS or the O’Fallon Police Department at 618-624-4545.
