MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (KTVI) - Creve Coeur Lake was filled with dragon boats for the 10th annual Dragon Boat Festival.

Dragon boating is a Chinese tradition that dates back over 2,000 years.

A dragon boat is a 40 foot long boat with 20 paddlers and a drummer.

Saturday 42 teams raced in heats across Creve Coeur Lake for charity.  The money raised will go to Operation Family, a non-profit that assists families with medical needs not covered by health insurance.

There are plaques and medals given out to the winning teams in different categories and the coveted traveling trophy given to the overall winner.
