CHESTERFIELD, MO (KTVI)- Shoppers can save some money over the next few days during Missouri`s sales tax holiday weekend. The event is designed to help families shopping for back to school items.

The Missouri sales tax holiday started Friday at midnight and runs through Sunday, August 7th. During this three day period, Missouri`s state sales tax is waived statewide on certain back to school items. Those items include clothes, school supplies, personal computers and other computer related software and devices as well as graphing calculators. While some municipalities also waive their local sales tax during this weekend, many municipalities do not.

Most of the counties in our area including St. Louis County are also waiving the county sales tax this weekend.

The bottom line for shoppers this weekend, make sure and check where you are shopping to see if that area is waiving the local sales tax in addition to the state sales tax. That way you can save the most money.

Illinois does not have a sales tax holiday.
