ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- The St. Louis Public Schools District is having an active shooter drill at the Washington Education Center on Vandeventer Avenue. They'll be testing security procedures in case someone starts shooting at one of their buildings.
Earlier in the year, Missouri lawmakers budgeted $700,000 in school safety grants. But Governor Jay Nixon cut that to just $100,000, saying he was protecting core priorities.
Nixon says the Missouri Highway Patrol does its own active shooter training in schools for free.
