Drug suspect in custody after running over officer’s leg

PINE LAWN, MO (KTVI) – A man will face a felony charge of assault on a police officer after running over the officer’s leg while fleeing the scene of an investigation.

According to Chief Tim Swope of the North County Police Cooperative, police were conducting a drug investigation in the 4300 block of Oakwood Avenue in Pine Lawn when a suspect sped off, striking an officer in the process.

The suspect was apprehended a short time later at Gustav Avenue and Jordan Street near the city-county border.

The officer was taken to a local hospital. His injuries are believed to be minor.
