Police warn fake healthcare workers may be stealing from the elderly

CHESTERFIELD, MO (KTVI) - Police are looking for a trio of con artists. The youngest is just 12 years old. Police want residents to stay vigilant because they think more victims could be out there.

This all happened in the middle of the day on August 1. Investigators say an 81-year-old woman was approached by a woman at the 1200 block of Winema who said she was stopping by to check on her health needs. While inside, the fake healthcare worker invited in a second woman who claimed she was a supervisor. This person brought the 12-year-old with her.

While the first woman distracted the victim, the others roamed throughout the house and stole $1,000 in cash and $2,000 in jewelry. Then she said they had to leave because of an emergency. The victim had just signed up for home health care.

Police say the two women were heavy set and had a medium to dark complexion. One of them had bleach blonde hair and missing teeth.

Police are urging the community to pass this information to the elderly. The group could be operating in other cities.
