St. Peters police searching for generator thief

ST. PETERS, MO (KTVI) – Investigators with the St. Peters Police Department are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who stole a generator from the parking lot of Expert Rentals.

The theft took place about 10:30 p.m. on August 24. Police have extensive surveillance images of the man and two trucks they believe were used in the theft on Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Officer Melissa Doss said the first truck is believed to be a Ford F450 or F550 cab with a large black box built into it.

“The suspect drove up to the business, pulled up to the gate, and cut the lock on the gate,” she said.

Doss said the truck eventually left and about 15 minutes later somebody arrived in another truck. Doss says the second truck is described as a dark blue or purple Chevy S-10.

“When he comes back, since the chain has already been taken off, he used his truck to push open the gate,” she said.

Police would also like help in identifying a man seen getting out of one of those two trucks. Police describe him as a white male, thin-to-medium build, with short, brown hair.

“The surveillance is really good on it to the point that we believe if somebody sees the video that knows this individual or the types of vehicles this individual has access to they'll immediately recognize him. That's what we're looking for.”

If you can identify the man or the trucks, you are asked to call the department’s crime solvers hotline at 636-278-1000.
