ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - The Macoupin County Sheriff's Office is looking for the public's help in finding the driver responsible for a hit and run. It happened Saturday just before 10am about a half mile north of the Staunton Country Club on Illinois Route 4.
Officers say a 55-year-old bicyclist was struck by vehicle. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later airlifted to Barnes in St. Louis.
A witness to the accident says he saw a maroon Hyundai Santa Fe SUV with front passenger side damage traveling southbound on Illinois Route 4 around the time the hit-and-run took place. The witness said he saw a white male driver with a blue tank top and a backwards baseball cap.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Macoupin County Sheriff's Office.
