ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO (KTVI) - The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney has teamed up with the child center to host their annual conference to help protect children from abuse.

Organizers of the conference say their main mission is assist child abuse victims and their families by helping to reduce the trauma the victims face, helping them heal and letting them know there is hope.

Hundreds of child advocates from around Missouri gathered at the St. Charles Convention Center Wednesday for its annual justice for children conference.

Team members are trained from across the state on how to complete forensic interviews for victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect and children who witness a violent crime.

Law enforcement agencies say it's one of their biggest passions to help children who have been abused and they are committed to protecting and standing up for victims

The child center serves 14 counties throughout Missouri.  Community leaders say they try to empower children through prevention programs, and that they cannot expect them to protect themselves; which is why educating parents and professionals is an important part in keeping children safe.

Participants of the conference also say their main goal is to leave the conference better equipped to make a positive difference for every child served.
