Rain cancels Great Forest Park Balloon Glow, other local events


ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The Great Forest Park Balloon Glow scheduled for Friday night has been cancelled due to extremely wet field conditions and the threat of more rain and storms.  The Balloon Race scheduled for Saturday is still on.  Festivities begin at noon with events for the entire family.  The race is scheduled for 4:30pm.

For those who have purchased tickets to the Humane Society Fund Raiser/Dinner,  “Glow in the Park,” the event will go on Friday evening but has been moved to the World’s Fair Pavilion.

The PNC Bank fireworks that were scheduled to end the Glow festivities will be shot off around dusk on Saturday.


Other area events that have been cancelled or altered due to wet weather include the following:

  • Greentree Festival (KIRKWOOD, MO)  – The event’s opening concert with the Fabulous Motown Revue will now take place at the Community Center in the gymnasium beginning at 7:00 P.M.  A decision about other activities with the festival including the dog show, book fair, and wine garden is TBA.  Saturday’s parade has been postponed one hour to 10:00 A.M.  And the parade will now be at 11:00 A.M.
  • Hillsboro Homecoming Parade – CANCELLED
  • Prairie Day Festival (GRAY SUMMIT, MO) – CANCELLED
  • Celebrate St. Peters 2016 (ST. PETERS, MO) – Friday’s festivities have been CANCELLED.  Organizers are continuing to monitor the situation.  A decision regarding Saturday’s events is TBA.  To follow the latest, visit the event’s official website: http://www.stpetersmo.net/
  • Hold the Line for Flamion (BALLWIN, MO) – POSTPONED from Friday, Sept. 16 to Friday, Sept. 30.
  • Taste of St. Louis (CHESTERFIELD, MO) – Friday’s festivities have been CANCELLED due to lightning.  Event resumes on Saturday at 11:00 A.M.
