AC units seem to be source of mold problems at Oakville senior living complex

OAKVILLE, MO (KTVI)-Mold is causing big problems for residents at a senior living complex in Oakville, MO. There are some 42 apartment units in the National Church Residences on Telegraph and many of them are dealing with some level of mold growth.

Mold has been growing on furniture and even in some clothing in the apartments.  On Friday, the building’s management mold experts have determined that 24 units have to be cleaned up and re-tested, meaning residents have to find a new place to live in the short term.

The experts met with residents Friday and explained the root of the problem appears to be coming from the air conditioning.  Extra filters have already been put on the AC units and the manufacturers of the units have been contacted so they can figure why the mold is growing.

Residents got some answers but expressed frustration with the lack of communication before Friday.
