The World Chess Hall of Fame is celebrating five years in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – National Chess Day was declared by President Ford on October 9th, 1976 and St. Louis was officially recognized as the Chess Capital of America by the U.S. Senate in 2013!

At the World Chess Hall of Fame the Animal, Vegetable, Mineral Exhibition will be taking place until March 12th.

Animal, Vegetable, Mineral will showcase 37 magnificent chess sets inspired by the natural world or crafted from natural materials as well as examples of the tools, minerals, and specimens used to make them.

The World Chess Hall of Fame is celebrating 5 years in St. Louis this year.

Chess is a game for everyone: men, women, all ages.

Chess helps build critical thinking and spatial reasoning skills, provides discipline focus, patience, sportsmanship and so much more. The Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis has chess programs in nearly 90 schools this year throughout the area.
