CHESTERFIELD, MO (KTVI) - The Chesterfield Police Department will be helping with the funeral procession for fallen St. Louis County Police Officer Blake Snyder Thursday.  The funeral is scheduled for 11am.

“We are deeply honored to be given this responsibility,” said Chesterfield Police Sgt. Keith Rider.  Officers from across the country and possibly from outside the United States are expected to attend.

“We expect a very large turnout, “said Rider.

Police want to warn drivers of periodic road closures in order to make way for the funeral procession.

Chesterfield Airport Rd. will be closed briefly from Long Rd. to near St. Louis Family Church at approximately 11am.  Edison Rd. will close in both directions from Baxter to Long Rd. from approximately 8am until 2pm.  Eastbound I-64 will close briefly at Bonnes Crossing at approximately 12:30pm.  There will be some rolling ramp closures as the procession makes its way onto northbound 270 into Illinois.

Anyone wishing to see the procession and pay their respects in the Chesterfield area should line up along Edison Rd.

“We encourage them to park their cars along Chesterfield Commons on businesses at THF Boulevard and they can walk up to Edison road,” said Rider.  “The procession will be going down Edison Rd. from Family Church onto Baxter where it will turn onto the highway.”

Alton Police are also inviting the public to line Alton’s streets beginning at Noon Thursday.  Alton Police say the processional will turn from the bridge onto Landmarks Blvd. and continue to the River Road.  Snyder will be buried in Godfrey.
