ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Don Brown Chevrolet teamed up with the Backstoppers INC. to collect donations for slain Officer Blake Snyder’s young family.
It pledged to match up to 20,000. Friday, volunteers walked between cars sitting at the intersection of Kingshhighway and Vandeventer on the Hill and asked for drivers to help fill a firefighters boot.
The response they got was moving for both parties. Jerry Stoll with Don Brown Chevrolet said people donated with tears in their eyes and the volunteers were overwhelmed by just how many people in the community wanted to help.
“People would come down with checks for $1,000, $100 bills, $20 bills,” said Jerry Stoll. “This was an amazing experience.”
In total, $60,000 was raised in less than 10 hours.
