De Soto residents meet with city council over Joachim Creek flooding issues

DE SOTO, MO (KTVI) – Monday night residents in De Soto are packing a city council meeting.

They want answers from city council members about an ongoing flood problem in the area.

The concern for many people centers around the Joachim Creek.

Many residents are to the point where they feel like the only option is to walk away from their homes.

They say they are scared every time rain is in the forecast for De Soto.

In the past eight months the creek has flooded homes 3 times.

Residents say this was never a problem unit a bridge was build in 2013 creating a basin in the creek under it.

Residents have been contacting local law makers about a potential buy of or fixing the structural problems of the creek for months.
