BELLEVILLE, IL (KTVI) - The Major Case Squad has a suspect in custody for the murder of Jamell Bridges, 24, of East St. Louis, IL. Bridges' body was found lying on Judith drive in unincorporated Cahokia at around 10:30am Friday. Police have charged Demarkus "Cat" Scott with the murder. The victim was shot in the chest.
Scott's bond is set at $1 million dollars. He is currently being held at the St. Clair County jail.
Police have not released a motive in this crime. The Major Case Squad named Scott as a suspect in this murder after talking to witnesses, family and examining social media accounts. They say the two were acquaintances.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department requested activation of the Major Case Squad of the Greater St. Louis Area for assistance. With 20 investigators arriving, the Major Case Squad began the investigation into the death.
