ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-North County drivers beware. A lane closure on a major highway could make for some traffic tie ups.
MoDOT crews are shutting down the right lane of westbound Interstate 70. It's being reduced from three lanes to two lanes near I-170 and traffic is shifting to the left in this construction zone. The lane reduction could certainly cause some traffic delays particularly during the evening rush along this already busy stretch of highway. That lane closure is slated to last for two weeks.
The closure is needed to continue ongoing bridge repairs on the I-170 and I-70 interchange.
MoDOT says work has been ongoing on eastbound I-70 in this same area for about one month. The eastbound work started with a lane closure then went to lane shifts.
Now it appears that westbound I-70 drivers may have some issues to deal with in this area for the next couple of weeks starting later Wednesday.
