ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- Two St. Louis natives have created a family and inclusion friendly cartoon that just might help you beat the Monday blues. Creator and producer Jabril Mack and Brandyn Champers swung by FOX 2 this morning to discuss their cartoon television show The Weeklings. Each cartoon character represents a specific day of the week, highlighting the best and worst parts of that day. Mack and Champers explained that they wanted to make a program that was both positive and enjoyable not just for children but for the whole family.
In addition to reinforcing positive moral values, the show places an emphasis on inclusion. In addition to the days of the week, several cartoon characters are created to embodied certain holidays that are often underrepresented in modern media. With characters like Quinceanera and Chinese New Year, it is the creators hope to teach children about the importance of diversity through the innocence of cartoons.
The show is currently taking looking for backers to support their project. After already reaching their 20,000 dollar benchmark, the production team has increased their goal to 30,000 dollars to further increase the quality and reach of their program.
