ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – David Freese #23 of the St. Louis Cardinals hits a walk off solo home run in the 11th inning to win Game Six of the MLB World Series against the Texas Rangers at Busch Stadium on October 27, 2011 in St Louis, Missouri. The Cardinals won 10-9.

It’s hard to miss a player as much as St. Louis fans miss David Freese. Born and raised in St. Louis, Freese dreamed of playing for the Cardinals and got his chance when they traded for him in 2008. Freese made his way to the big league team in 2011 and put on a show for the ages in the 2011 playoffs.

Cardinal fans of all ages remember his heroics in the NLCS and World Series, none bigger than his game-tying triple and walk-off home run in Game 6 of the series. He was traded to the Angels before the start of the 2014 season, but his penchant for playing the hero in big moments has solidified his status as a Cardinal legend.
