ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) - Customers from across the country are placing orders for shirts designed in the St. Louis area.
The shirts, honoring fallen St. Louis County Police Officer Blake Snyder, has volunteers excited about the demand, and more importantly, the support.
“We want to keep it going as long as it lasts,” Robin Sumpter said.
Sumpter and others have been working around the clock out of the St. Louis County Police
Department’s West County Precinct on Vance Road.
A back room designated for roll call is currently being used as headquarters for the t-shirt operations. Stacks of boxes, black shirts, and blue bags fill available tables and chairs.
“It’s a good problem to have. The support’s been great,” St. Louis County Police Captain Tim Cunningham said.
Proceeds from the sales will benefit the family of Snyder.
Snyder was shot and killed the morning of October 6 as he responded to a disturbance call in Green Park.
His loss has touched people across the St. Louis area, and the country.
Sumpter said crowds from Granite City gathered last weekend to pick up their shirts. The shirts reads, “We Support The Blue / Officer Blake Snyder End of Watch 10.06.16” on the front. The back of the shirt features a rendering of the American flag and “In This Family, No One Stands Alone.
Sumpter says that statement is true.
“If you need anything, there’s always someone there. And that’s what family is. That’s what family does. That’s why I’m doing this,” she said.
