Victim dies following Shaw double shooting

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – A 21-year-old man was pronounced dead Friday after he and another man were shot in a south city neighborhood the night before.

According to Leah Freeman, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting occurred around 7:50 p.m. in the 4200 block of Shaw Boulevard at the intersection with Klemm Street.

The victims were already in route to a hospital. When police arrived at the hospital, they found Michael Murphy had been shot in the back of the head and was listed in critical condition. Murphy later died.

The other victim was shot in the side and remains in critical condition.

Investigators learned the two men were inside a parked car when they were both shot. The motive behind the shooting was not disclosed.
