Missouri Secretary of State’s travel itinerary raises eyebrows
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI)- Fresh off a narrow loss for Roy Blunt’s seat in the United States Senate, could Missouri’s soon-to-be out of work Secretary of State have other political jobs on his mind beyond the state’s borders?
That’s what political observers are wondering after word got out that Jason Kander will be a “Featured Speaker” at Progress Iowa’s holiday party in Des Moines on December 20. Progress Iowa is a liberal progressive 501c4 organization.
Why? Because as the saying goes, no politician goes to Iowa, home of the early Presidential caucuses, by accident. And it’s getting noticed.
Pfeiffer is a former Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama.
Kander has earned from the left for a post-Election Day message urging people to stay involved.
I don’t know what I’m going to do next or even whether I’ll ever place my name on a ballot again, but I know I’m not leaving this cause behind. To truly care about this country is to demonstrate that you care about her politics the same when you’re winning as when you’re losing.
America needs you now more than ever. So don’t quit! This generation is patriotic, creative, selfless, and – most importantly – numerous. My campaign might no longer be the vehicle for your activism, but that doesn’t mean you’re excused from standing up and making your voice heard.
The news of the Iowa travel comes as some have speculated Kander could be a candidate to run for Chair of the Democratic National Committee. He told Politico earlier this month he was open to it, but “not actively pursuing the role at the moment.”
Today, Politico placed Kander at a meeting with Democratic U.S. Senators. Efforts to reach him for comment have been unsuccessful.
