Wife of Gov.- elect Greitens robbed at gunpoint; 3 arrests made

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) –The wife of Missouri`s Governor-elect Eric Greitens is robbed at gunpoint in the Central West End. This morning suspects are in custody.

Fortunately, Sheena Greitens is okay and not injured---a statement from Governor-elect Greitens saying his wife is 'safe--- but shaken.'

The frightening incident happened last night about 6:15 p.m. in a parking lot just outside of Café Ventana on West Pine near Vandeventer and very close to the SLU campus.

Police say Mrs. Greitens was inside of her car in a parking lot outside the restaurant looking at her cell phone when a suspect opened up her door, pointed a gun at her and demanded her property. Missouri`s future first lady complied....giving up her laptop and cell phone. The suspects then took off.

Police responded and discovered that another car in the same parking lot had been broken into and a cell phone was taken in that case.

That victim began tracking his phone which led officers to the 4200 block of Shreve in north city.
Police say as they got behind the vehicle that the suspects were in, the car attempted to speed away and was involved in a crash.

The suspects tried to run but were caught by police. We`re told they are 14, 15 and 19-years-old. They were in a car that had been stolen from Lindell and the same car was used in a robbery on Locust just before Mrs. Greitens was robbed.

Eric Greitens issued a statement reading in part, 'If tonight`s incident has done anything it has only served to strengthen my and our family`s resolve. We are now more than ever committed to the law enforcement officials who were by Sheena`s side within minutes.'

Nobody was hurt.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence spoke with Greitens and his wife offering prayers and support.

Governor-elect Greitens is slated to hold a news conference later this morning to talk more about this incident.
