FLORISSANT, MO (KTVI) – The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged a 41-year-old Florissant in connection with the death of his 22-year-old wife.

According to Sgt. Andy Haarmann, a spokesman for the Florissant Police Department, officers were called to a home on Apache Court just before 7 a.m. for a report about a domestic violence incident. When officers arrived at the home they found the body of Kiera Chafin.

Peter Chafin, Kiera’s husband, told both the police dispatcher and the officers that he killed his wife, Haarmann said.

Peter told detectives he and his wife got into an argument that became physical, leading him to strangle Kiera.

A two-year-old and nine-month-old were inside the home at the time of the murder, police said. They were unharmed and turned over to the custody of the Missouri Department of Family Services.

Peter Chafin was charged with second-degree murder. He remains in custody at the St. Louis County Justice Center on a $300,000 bond.
