ST. PETERS, MO (KTVI)- One suspect is in custody and police are still searching for another after an overnight chase in St. Charles County. Investigators say it began around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when Lake St. Louis police officers spotted a stolen 2015 Kia Optima with two people inside it.
Captain Chris DiGuiseppi, the Assistant Police Chief in Lake St. Louis, tells us officers tried to pull the car over but it sped off.
Lake St. Louis officers chased the Optima for a time but lost sight of it. A short time later the Kia crashed into a ravine along 364 eastbound near Mid Rivers Mall Drive in St. Peters. Authorities removed the car from the ravine just before 4:30 a.m.
The passenger of the car surrendered to authorities after the crash and was taken into custody. He is now at the Lake St. Louis police department-his name hasn`t been released yet.
But Lake St. Louis police are looking for the driver.
Lake St. Louis police identify him as 26-year-old Wendell Mosley Jr. Authorities say he ran from the scene and was last seen wearing all black.
Police say he should be considered dangerous.
Authorities are asking the public to contact police right away if you see Mosley but do not approach him yourself.
