The remains belonged to 50-year-old Rocsheill Robinson, who went missing on October 31, 2014.
Officers were called to a wooded area between a retirement community and Christian Northeast Hospital in the 11100 block of Village North Drive around 5 p.m. on April 10.
Authorities said Ms. Robinson checked herself out of Christian Northeast Hospital around 2 p.m. that day. She was last seen exiting the main entrance to the hospital on foot, walking in the parking lot of the hospital.
Three months after Robinson went missing, Fox 2 News talked to members of her family, who were still holding out hope she would be found. They said she called them prior to leaving the hospital and appeared to be agitated and confused.
While police have identified the remains, they still don't know the cause of death. A spokesperson for the St. Louis County Police Department said that could take several weeks.
And while there appear to be no signs of trauma, investigators have not ruled out foul play.
