When Dave Murray was named Chief Meteorologist for KTVI, FOX 2 in 1989, he came full circle by returning to the city where his broadcasting career began in 1976. Viewers and colleagues alike applauded his return as is evidenced by his popularity and the ten Emmy Awards he has won since then for best weathercaster bringing his total number of Emmys to 12. This year, 2006…marks 30 years of forecasting the weather for the St. Louis area.

Nationwide, viewers got to know Dave from 1983 to 1985 on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and “World News This Morning” where he was Chief Meteorologist. While at ABC he also was a meteorological consultant for “World News Tonight”, “Nightline”, ABC Sports and on-air weathercaster for the ABC Radio Network. After his work at ABC, Dave became Chief Meteorologist for WBZ-TV in Boston and then moved back to his Midwestern roots in St. Louis.

Dave can be seen Monday through Friday on FOX 2 News at 5, 5:30, 6, and 9. He also reports special features for FOX 2 such as the “Weather Spotlight”.

Dave holds the American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval and was the first meteorologist weathercaster on the nightly TV news in St. Louis. He has served as Chairman of the AMS Broadcast Meteorology Board, as an advisor to the Board, and is a member of the National Weather Association. In 1999, Dave was the first weathercaster to ever receive the Quest Award from the St. Louis Chapter of the National Federation of Press Women.
