Broadcast Engineer

KTVI-FOX2/KPLR11 is seeking qualified applicants having experience and expertise in all facets of broadcast television engineering operations.


  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • 2 – 3 years Master Control experience and other broadcasting experience

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Required to operate broadcast equipment in Master Control for (4) channels.
  • Able to operate equipment including automated on-air playback systems, media prep operations, satellite receiving equipment and server based media storage systems
  • May also work with Ross Overdrive, production audio, camera robotics, FCP editing, microwave truck operations, and other production duties
  • Must be able to oversee transmitter remote, take transmitter readings and make remote adjustments to transmitter as needed
  • Communication with all station departments, including making quick decisions and having the ability to react quickly to changing conditions, is required.
  • Precise written skills are required in order to write discrepancy reports daily and maintain written documentation of daily events and errors during assigned shifts.
  • Able to lift at least 60 pounds
  • Availability to work any shifts, including weekends and overnights.
  • A valid driver’s license is required, with a good driving record.

KTVI-KPLR in St. Louis, Mo. has an immediate opening for a Multimedia Producer. We are looking for a creative, visionary producer who knows how to craft a great rundown but isn’t married to it. The winning candidate is enthusiastic and willing to make last minute changes. Equally important is how this producer performs in the booth. We are looking for someone who makes decisions quickly and calmly.

We are also looking for someone who can maximize all of our live pictures, whether they be from our helicopter, fixed cameras, live remotes or news feeds from around the country & world.

In addition to the standard duties of producers in the industry (write, gather information, select stories, decide order and treatment of stories ), the producers of the KTVI-KPLR News Team are responsible for developing an overall style and identity for their assigned newscast with a keen focus on building the stations brand, “ Live, Local, and Late Breaking “

Web Producer

KTVI-FOX2/KPLR11 is looking for a Web Content Producer who has a passion for breaking news and social media. The web producer will help oversee several station websites and social media accounts including and Responsibilities include: writing news, posting to Facebook and Twitter on behalf of the station, interacting with viewers, following trending stories, working with reporters, producers, news managers and on occasion, the sales department.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experience writing using AP style
• Familiar with managing Facebook and Twitter for business
• Some image and video editing skills (Photoshop & Final Cut Pro)
• Basic knowledge of HTML programming
• Experience using WordPress or comparable CMS
• Understanding of Google Analytics, RSS, FTP, SEO, etc.
• Valid driver’s license

Education Requirements:

• Four year college degree preferred
• Related experience working in web production based environment for 3 years

Position requires an aggressive multimedia journalist to work in a newsroom that puts a high value on breaking news, daily investigative reporting, neighborhood stories and severe weather coverage. The candidate must be able to pull off a visual live shot and know how to turn an enterprise story into a lead.
The winning candidate must be equally good on the street AND on the anchor desk. Strong writing, storytelling and news judgment are a must. The reporter should be available to work any shift including weekends and holidays. This person may also be asked to make public appearances at station events. Candidate must be capable of using news computer system, along with shooting and editing their own stories.

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Journalism / Broadcast Communications preferred 3 Years working as a Multimedia Reporter or Backpack Journalist

Minimum Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of contemporary TV Production techniques and computer software
  • Shooting/Editing: Must have a solid grasp of how to shoot and edit digital video, tell stories with words, video, sound and graphics. We shoot on Sony EX3 cameras and edit on Final Cut Pro. • Enterprise Reporting: A superior ability to develop enterprise story ideas, develop sources & contacts, and research stories.
  • Writing: Consistently writing factual/accurate, clear, compelling, easy-to-understand, news stories and teases, making maximum use of video, graphics, live shots, and all the tools available to achieve superb story telling on multimedia platforms.
  • Aggressive Response to Breaking News & Weather: On air, online, on social media such as Twitter and Facebook and on other platforms.
  • Superior ability to report live out in the field and under pressure, meeting deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Account Executive

KTVI / KPLR-TV has an immediate opening for a new business developmental Account Executive. Candidate will be responsible for developing new business for KTVI / KPLR-TV. In addition, candidate will provide outstanding customer service and form new relationships with clients. Candidate must possess self-motivation skills along with a proven track record of success. Must be able to work under pressure, be extremely organized and maintain a team spirit. Cold calling and prospecting is required, as this is commission based compensation.

Minimum Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with TV Scan, Scarborough and Broadcasting Traffic System
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office ( Excel, Word, Powerpoint )
  • Creativity, strong written / oral communication skills are required
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

Education / Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree and two+ years’ experience in outside sales.

The person hired in this position must be able to work in fast paced newsroom and edit video on deadline pressure. With 12 hours news daily, editors are required to be proficient in multi-tasking assignments for multiple newscasts. Preferred three years of experience in newsroom environment.


The candidate hired for this position must be able to use non-linear editing systems to assemble news stories for air in multiple newscasts. Must be proficient in Final Cut Pro computer editing program. This employee must be able to work any shift on any day of week, including weekends. 3 years editing experience is preferred. The person hired will be asked to edit any number of videos: including packages, anchor-read voice overs (vo), and voice overs with sound on tape (vosot).
