My Neighborhood

What is My Neighborhood?

My Neighborhood brings you neighborhood news in 17 areas. Some areas are comprised of small neighborhoods or cities (i.e. Downtown/Soulard/The Landing), and others areas simply feature several counties (i.e. Warren/Lincoln County). The news within each My Neighborhood section is specific to its area, as are the restaurants, businesses, events and even photos.

How do I navigate to a different My Neighborhood section?
In the upper right-hand corner of the Neighborhood page, hover over the menu that says MORE FOX2NOW SITES, and choose your neighborhood.

What features does My Neighborhood offer?
Each section’s home page features blog-style stories about recent or upcoming news, events, concerts, fundraisers, etc. In addition to the home page, each site also features separate sections for: Families, Events, Restaurants, Businesses and Real Estate. Some of the stories on each section are posted by KTVI and KPLR staff. However, Community Contributors post stories, events and photos that relate to their neighborhood.

How can I post my own content (stories, events) to a My Neighborhood section?
To post content to a My Neighborhood section, you will first need to be approved as a contributor blogger for that site. If you are interested in becoming a Community Contributor, you will need to visit this link and fill out the application form. Once the KTVI/KPLR staff has reviewed your application and approved you, you will have the ability to submit stories and events to your neighborhood section. We will review them and post them online.

How can I post my own photos to a My Neighborhood section?
First, you need to create a Yahoo! account. To do this, visit http://www.flickr.com/. Click on “Create Your Account” on the top/right-hand side of the page. You will be redirected, and the new window will ask you to sign in. At the bottom of the right-hand column, click “Sign Up.”

You will first need to register for a Yahoo! ID. Fill in all the required bubbles (i.e., Name, Country, …). Then you will pick an ID and a password.

Once you have a Yahoo! ID, you will need to create a flickr! account.

Now that you have created a flickr! account, you are one step closer to adding a photo to your My Neighborhood page. To do this, you will need to add your photo to a group – each neighborhood has their own group. They are listed below:

Downtown / Soulard / The Landing
Franklin County
Jefferson County
Madison / Jersey Counties
Mid Town
Mid County North
Mid County South
North City
North County
South City
South County
St. Charles
St. Clair / Monroe Counties
St. Peters & O’Fallon

When you get to the group page, click on the link next to Group pool, which says Add something? On this screen, you can click on up to six (6) photos at a time and add them to the group pool. Once your photos are added to the pool, they will show up shortly in the Community Pics box on the left-hand side of your Neighborhood site.
