A south St. Louis church relentlessly vandalized for its copper gutters now has an image of the thief.

Back in July when we first told you about the copper thief tearing off the gutters at St. Johns Lutheran Church on Morganford, he had already hit several times.

If you are keeping score he has hit about 15 more times, the most recent being Monday night.

But what he did not know is someone inside the church was monitoring the security camera, which caught images of the thief climbing the fence around the air conditioner, which has been hit three times before, tearing away the copper tubing and then back over the fence heading off toward Chippewa. This was all within a matter of three minutes, too fast for police to catch him.

But the pastor is hoping with the pictures they may be closer to solving this destructive and annoying crime spree.
