A young woman died Thursday night in a single-car crash in North St. Louis.  Her mother was driving.  Police said the daughter may have tried to control the car from the passenger`s seat.  The mother survived the crash with only minor injuries.  But when she was finally able to get out of the wreck, she found a parent's worst nightmare.

This happened just after 11 p.m. Thursday night.  A woman in her 40's was driving westbound on Interstate-70 from a party in downtown St. Louis.  St. Louis City Police say her daughter in her 20`s was worried the mom would miss their exit at Salisbury.

Investigators believe the daughter grabbed the wheel from her passenger's seat and tried to pull the car toward the exit.  The car flipped three times.  The daughter got ejected.  Police say several cars ran over the victim.  She died at the scene.
The highway was shut down for nearly five hours between Salisbury and Madison while investigators looked into the crash.  The mother is in the hospital, and in police custody.  Police believe alcohol is also a factor.
