The chestnut tree is my favorite. My father planted one for me as a child; it never grew but this appetizer will grow on you. Taste the bacon meander past your taste buds. Feel the chestnut squeak as your teeth bite down. Swallow and repeat process same as above; smile at your relatives and friends for they too will enjoy and understand your facial expression.

whole water chestnuts (canned are fine)
1- 1lb pk of bacon
1 bottle of bbq sauce (honey bbq sauce works best but any will do)
toothpicks (silly but it’s one of those things we sometimes forget to buy!)

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.

Cut each of the slices of bacon into 3 equal portions. one piece of bacon should yield enough for 3 water chestnuts.

Wrap one slice of bacon around a water chestnut securing with a tooth pick.

Dip into the bbq sauce.

Bake for around 20 minutes. Bacon should not be crispy and hard. It should be just done and tender.

Serve immediately. None are ever leftover!
