Cardinals Lose Spring Training Opener, 4-3 to Marlins

New Cardinals manager Mike Matheny and his Cardinals started their 2012 Spring Training schedule of a losing note, dropping a 4-3 game to the Miami Marlins on Monday in Jupiter, Florida. It was Matheny’s first official game as the Cardinals skipper.

Kyle Lohse started on the mound for St. Louis and allowed just one run in two innings of pitching. The Marlins got a home run and three RBI from Greg Dobbs to lead the way. The Cardinals finally got on the scoreboard with three runs in the ninth inning highlighted by Matt Carpenter’s two run double. New Cardinal Carlos Beltran was 0 for 3 in his debut.
