Near Dittmer, MO. (KTVI-FOX2now.com) Three men were injured in an explosion and flash fire at a fireworks factory in Grubville, Missouri this morning.

It happened around 7 a.m. at Global Pyrotechnic Solutions.  A 33 year old man was airlifted to the burn unit at Mercy Hospital.  Two other men, ages 22 and 23, suffered first and second degree burns and were treated and released from a St. Clare Hospital.

John Kelemen lives across the street from the company.  He said the owners are good people.  Kelemen heard a muffled boom this morning.  Kelemen said, 'I heard a little explosion it wasn`t very loud I thought it was my daughter slammed the door downstairs so it wasn`t that loud.'

Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer said federal agents from A.T.F. are in charge of the investigation.  Boyer said, 'Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms comes in automatically because they`re the licensing for the pyrotechnic business.'

Investigators have been on the property in the past looking into other explosions and fires.  Boyer said damage from this incident was limited, 'The building is pretty much intact the way it was explained to me it was more of a flash fire than it was an explosion.'

John Kelemen said the company owners focus on safety, 'They really preach on safety over there, they`re always conscious of what they`re doing over there.'

The cause is not yet known.  Boyer said, 'We`re just in the early stages of our investigation so I`m not going to rule anything out, but right now it looks like an accident.'

A woman who answered the phone at the fireworks` company declined to comment.
