Suspects Carjack Two at Redbox in North County

NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) -Two people are rushed to the hospital after a carjacking outside a North County Walgreens. Now the search is on for two suspects.

It all happened in front of a Redbox machine at a Walgreens at Halls Ferry and Chambers around 12:45 Thursday morning. There were apparently several witnesses who saw the crime happening and immediately called police.

Two people in a silver Chevy Cobalt stopped to rent a movie from the Redbox. When they got out of their car, police say two suspects confronted the. There was some kind of argument between the victims and the suspects.

Investigators say one of the suspects got into the victim's car. When one of the victims tried to stop him from stealing the car, police say the suspect fired one shot.  The bullet hit and went through the leg of the first victim then struck the second victim in the leg.

Both suspects got away in the victim's car. St. Louis County police are calling what happened a random attack and crime of opportunity.

Police silver Chevy Cobalt has a tail light that is out and has Missouri plates KF2M9M.  The victims who are in their late teens or early 20s were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say they do not have a good description of the suspects.
