WASHINGTON PARK, ILLINOIS (KTVI)-- The Major Case Squad on Monday identified the body of a woman found in a desolate area of Washington Park as that of Jessie Williams.  Family members reported her missing earlier this month.  Williams was from the Collinsville area.

Her body was found late Monday morning behind a burned out, abandoned property near 62nd and Caseyville in Washington Park.

The East Carondelet police chief lives just a block away from the where the body was found.

'There have been bodies dumped out here several times,' said chief Herb Woodall.
'It`s a desolate area there just aren`t many homes left around here.'

A friend of Williams said police spend the night going over details of the body found before making a positive identification.

Washington Park police chief David Clark requested help from the Major Case Squad but did say there were no obvious signs of trauma.

The Major Case Squad is working out of the Fairview Heights Police department at this point says the cause of death has not been determined.
