Fairvew Heights Officer Arrested For Allegedly Driving Drunk

(KTVI)– A Fairview Heights police officer was arrested for drunken driving on Saturday night.

The department says 47-year old James Krummerich was charged with a DUI after he was involved in a traffic accident and appeared to be intoxicated.

Krummerich was booked and released after posting bond.

He’s been with the Fairview Heights Police Department for 15 years.

According to Police Chief Nick Gailius, Krummerich has been suspended with pay. An internal investigation is ongoing to determined if he violated code of police conduct. “We are not above the law, we are held to a higher standard,” said Chief Gailius.
