Suspect Arrested In Connection To An Armed Robbery In Imperial, MO

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department is holding 18-year-old Jeffery Smith in connection to a robbery that happened early Saturday morning in Imperial, Missouri.  A 37-year-old female reported that she had arrived home from work and that she had been approached by two male subjects on foot, one of which was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.  The suspects struck the victim with the pistol and demanded her money and keys before forcing her into the trunk of her vehicle, and fled the area.  The victim was able to open the trunk from the inside and escape from the vehicle.  Arnold police spotted the victims vehicle and assisted by St. Louis County and MSHP pursued the vehicle.  The pursuit ended on the Poplar Street Bridge when the vehicle was disabled.  The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody.  The whereabouts of the second subject are unknown at this time.

Smith is being held on Robbery 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.

The victim was not seriously injured and was treated at the scene.
