COLLINSVILLE, IL (KTVI) - Fairmount Park opens Tuesday for its 2012 horse racing season.  This is the 86th season in Collinsville, IL.  Owners are expecting capacity crowds for this opening day.

Generations of race-lovers will see eight races starting Tuesday afternoon.

Fairmount will have two race days a week until the Kentucky Derby day on May 5th. After that, Fairmont will host three race days each week when they add Saturday night to the schedule.

To bring even more gaming business, owners are still hoping Illinois will approve slot machines at horse racing tracks. Track spokesman Jon Sloane said, if owners across the state get those slots, the games would open next year.  Construction would start immediately.
