WASHINGTON, MO (KTVI) - In days of yore, Main Street was the place to be in cities and towns across America. But over the last several decades, there has been a decline as populations have shifted away from city-centered living.
But don't tell that to the folks in Washington, Missouri. The town was recently chosen for the 2012 Great American Main Street awards.
Bridgette Epple, executive director for Downtown Washington Inc., and Mayor Sandy Lucy talked about how they got nominated and what it means to businesses and residents to win.
