Cards Pound Brewers 9-3 to take series in Milwaukee

The Cardinals gave new manager Mike Matheny his first series win with a 9-3 win over the Brewers in Milwaukee on Sunday. Lance Lynn making just his third major league start pitching into the 7th inning. allowing just one run on two hits while striking out eight.

Matheny gave regular position players Yadier Molina, Jon Jay and Lance Berkman the day off. Shane Robinson one of the Cardinals bench players started in centerfield and delivered three hits including his first major league home run, a three run shot in the ninth inning. Rafael Furcal had three hits and one RBI. Carlos Beltran continued his hot hitting with three more hits including his second home run of the season.

The win gives the Cardinals a 3-1 record this season. They head to Cincinnati to play a three game series with the Reds before finally playing their home opener on Friday, April 13th against the Cubs.
