(KTVI) – A man was killed and his passenger seriously injured Saturday evening in a Jefferson County car crash.  Christopher Wayne, 31, and Dennis Patterson, 27, both of Catawissa, MO, were traveling west on Highway 30 in Jefferson County when Wayne failed to negotiate a curve.  He over corrected several times before the vehicle struck a road sign, guy wire, utility pole and a private driveway where the car became airborne.  The car came to rest on its wheels.

Wayne and Patterson were not wearing seat belts and both were ejected from the vehicle.  Wayne was transported to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office where he was pronounced dead by Big River paramedic personnel.   Patterson was transported to Mercy in Creve Coeur by Arch Helicopter and is listed in serious condition.

Another man was killed in an accident in Macoupin County late Saturday night.  Daniel Nafzinger, 18, of Carlinville, IL was involved in a single car crash on Dorchester Road north of Staunton-Bunker Hill Road.

Nafzinger was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Macoupin County Coroner.
