BETHALTO, IL (KTVI)-- Bethalto is remembering two young college students who died after a weekend fire.

Many family members and friends are devastated over the deaths, but they are also celebrating the lives of Lacy Siddall and Lauren Peterson.

They were best friends, roommates and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville students.  Both died within hours of one another Monday at a hospital.   Lacy and Lauren suffered smoke inhalation and burns after a fire broke out in their apartment in Bethalto early Sunday morning.

Lacy and Lauren are being remembered at their high school, Civic Memorial in Bethalto.

They were members of the choir that went on a trip to New York four years ago. The choir is getting ready to make that trip again this week.

SIUE will hold a candlelight vigil to remember the girls Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.

Funeral arrangements for both girls have not been made public yet.
