ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Charges have now been filed against the father of the 5 year old boy who was taken from St. Louis Children's Hospital Tuesday.  The St. Louis Circuit Attorney has charged Jeffrey Stone and Rhonda Matthews with Kidnapping, Interference with Custody, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Police say Porter Stone, who was waiting for a heart transplant, was taken by his father during a discharge even though he does not have custody. Now his mother is preparing to reunite with her son.

Tiffany Stone, Porter's mother, says St. Louis police told her around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday that Porter had been found.  Investigators say Porter was discovered just south of Chicago in  Alsip, Illinois with his father, Jeffrey Stone, his grandmother, Rhonda Matthews, and an aunt.  Charges have not be filed against the aunt.

'It just felt like we were in a nightmare that we were never going to get out of. We knew that Jeff had him we just didn`t know where they were going. There were just too many possibilities. So none of us have been to sleep just waiting to hear the news and we`re beyond ecstatic to hear that he`s ok,' said Jessica Chavez, a close family friend.
Investigators say Porter was kidnapped by his father right after he was discharged yesterday from Children`s Hospital.

Authorities say Porter had just been put on the waiting list for a heart transplant Tuesday and was being discharged with medication when he was taken by his father.  Family members say Illinois State Police found Porter with the three relatives at a hotel in Alsip.  All three adults were taken into custody.

Porter's mother says she's relieved her son has been found and is on her way to see him. Tiffany Stone says here son is at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn outside of Chicago.
