PHOENIX, AZ. (CNN) - a phoenix baseball team forfeited their state championship game Thursday night, because their opponent had a girl on the roster.  "Our Lady of Sorrows Academy" bowed out of the game against "Mesa Preparatory Academy", because Mesa's second baseman is 15-year-old Paige Sultzbach.

The fundamentalist catholic school has not commented on the move, but Paige’s mother says, it's because the school doesn't believe girls should be allowed to play.

The two teams played each other twice during the season and Paige sat out both games, out of respect for the other team's beliefs.  But this time, she wanted to play.
