(KTVI) – The Illinois general assembly has passed a bill to dedicate a stretch of interstate 64 in memory of the Uhl sisters.

Jessica and Kelli Uhl of Collinsville were killed Thanksgiving weekend in 2007 by former Illinois state trooper Matt Mitchell. Mitchell was later convicted of reckless homicide for his involvement in the fatal accident.

The section of I-64 between Illinois Route 158 and Route 4 will be renamed the Jessica and Kelli Uhl memorial highway.

The measure now goes to Governor Pat Quinn to be signed.
