WASHINGTON, D.C. (KTVI) - Hundreds of people took part in a "stroller brigade" on Capitol Hill. Parents, nurses, and cancer survivors rallied in support of the "Safe Chemicals Act." It would overhaul laws on toxic chemicals.
Illinois Senator Dick Durbin says chemicals can be found in everyday things we don't even think about.
The bill would place the burden on manufacturers to prove a chemical is safe before putting it on the market.
It is expected to go before a Senate environmental committee later this month.
